Cell Phone Addiction: How to Reduce Screen Time and Reconnect
For the past 3 weeks, I have chosen a ‘mantra’, something I must focus on for the week. It has helped create awareness and change habits I have been struggling to get rid of.
This week the mantra is ‘Connect More’. It follows on from the Rugby World Cup and how we stood united as a nation supporting the Springboks, It follows from me reuniting with family members after decades and having an instant connection and bond.
This week, I am focusing on deepening my connection with myself, God, my family and community. I have my journaling and writing that helps with connecting with my inner voice and God. However, my biggest distractions is the cellphone. I wrote this poem in January 2023.
My Addiction by Neshni Naidoo
He whispers my name
A siren call
Leading me astray
Luring me away
To a world of pleasure
Where I feel no pain
Making me forget who I am
And where I’m supposed to be
I know he is not good for me
But I can’t walk away
I’m lost without him
My precious – my Huawei
This video popped up in my instagram feed last week. I realised that my family and friends may feel as if I am not interested or listening to them!
I am challenging myself for the next 7 days to reduce my phone usage and connect more with the people around me. Will you join me?
Click on the picture below to join the challenge. Send your details with the subject 7 day challenge and you will receive one tip a day for the 7 days.
Looking forward to connecting with you.
